Joseph Stanley Boswell, 74, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville. He was born in Greencastle on February 10, 1951, to Ira and Eva Boswell.

Joe graduated from Greencastle High School in 1969. He worked at the Banner Graphic in Greencastle from 1969-1971 while serving in the National Guard through 1975. He moved to Crawfordsville to work as a photographer for the Journal Review, where he met his wife of 53 years. He married Phyllis Powell on March 25, 1972. They had two children, Carrie and TJ.

Joe started his own photography business in 1985. He took thousands of sports, wedding, and family pictures. He enjoyed sponsoring sports teams and helping bring slowpitch softball to Crawfordsville. He enjoyed selling cars at Horner Pontiac-Buick and then Christi Hubler Chevrolet until his retirement in 2019.

An active member in the community, Joe served on many boards, including the Boys Club, Zoning, Parks and Recreation, and CASA. he was co-chair of the strawberry festival for three years and served on the committee for several years after that. He loved attending Colts games and watching IU basketball and football.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Eva Boswell, sister Wanda Carol Milliman, and daughter Carrie Linn Saunders.

He is survived by his wife, son TJ Boswell (Nicole), grandchildren Cali House (Joe), Cameron Saunders (Riley), Christen Saunders, Pheobe Boswell, son-in-law Brian Saunders, several nieces and nephews, and his great-grandson, Luke House.

A visitation will take place at Hunt and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, November 30, from 2-4 PM with a service to follow. Grandson-in-law Joe House will be officiating.
