My beautiful twin sister, Judy Joanne Hughes-Bice, departed this earthly life and is now at eternal rest in God's House. Judy passed peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2023. Thanks to the exceptional care from the medical staff at Franciscan Health Lafayette. Judy was preceeded in death by her parents Harold J and Ruby M Hughes. She is survived by son, Michael J. Scheurich of Otterbein; twin sister, Julie Hughes-Russell of Vincennes; and brother, Jerry J. Hughes of Crawfordsville. Also surviving is her very dear close cousin, Joy Gentry O'Brien of Lafayette, as well as very close friends Jane Ryan and Rita Harpel of Crawfordsville and Cathy Weliever of Darlington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Judy was born October 21, 1946 in Tipton, Indiana. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crawfordsville where she taught bible school and sang in the church choir in her younger years. Judy attended Mt. Zion Elementary School and was 1964 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. She attended Indiana University and Danville School of Nursing. She was an active member of the CHS Class of '64 Reunion and Planning Committee, the Crawfordsville International Order of Rainbow Girls and the American Legion Auxillary Post 11 of Lafayette. Judy worked for the Tippecanoe Building Commission and retired from an administrative position with Purdue University. Judy enjoyed writing poetry and was recognized by the Society of American Poets in 1982. Her love was for cooking and she enjoyed preparing extraordinary meals for family and friends.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00pm Thursday, September 28 at Hunt and Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville, with a Celebration of Life held at 3:00pm.  Judy has chosen cremation.
