Katherine Rae (Katie) Hurt passed away on October 12, 2023, in Bloomington, Indiana as a result of an auto accident.  Katie was born July 7, 2002, in Lafayette to Stacee Saathoff and Jacob Hurt.

As a child, Katie was an avid reader, played softball, enjoyed creating fashion-related art and craft projects, traveling to Chicago and the beach, and was the 2015 Covington Apple Fest Princess.  She also enjoyed a special relationship with her Great Mimi throughout her life.

Katie was a 2020 Fountain Central High School Honors Graduate, where she was the 2019 Homecoming Queen and the 2018 Snowcoming Junior Class Attendant.  She was a cheerleader all four years of high school as well as a varsity letter winner in cross country, basketball, track and field, and swimming.

Upon graduating from high school Katie attended Purdue University, Western Kentucky University and Indiana University where she was currently studying.  Katie had many career dreams and aspirations with a strong desire to return to Europe, which she had visited in high school.

Katie was a sweet, caring, creative soul who wasn't afraid to chart her own path.  She had a love of reading, music, the outdoors, and journaling, which helped her express her thoughts and emotions.  Katie's partner through many adventures was Clay, her "emotional support cat."

Katie is survived by her mother, Stacee Saathoff and her significant other, Brandy Groff, her father Jacob Hurt, and his partner, Sandra Biddle.  Her sister, Maddy Hurt, and brothers Luke Hurt, Reese Hurt, Edgar Biddle, and Austin Biddle.  Her grandparents, Don and Linda Saathoff, and Brad and Becky Hurt.  She is also survived by Aunts and Uncles, Dawn and Jeff Sheffield of Zionsville, Indiana, and Aaron and Natalie Hurt of Crawfordsville.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Joel Weir officiating.  Friends may call 12-3 PM Monday at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow services.
