Kenneth L. Hipes Brown was born January 11, 1935, to Bedford & Kathleen Brown in Crawfordsville. He married Joyce Staton in 1955 in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death in 2006. They were the parents of four children: Daniel, Phillip, Diana Cay, and Teresa.

Kenneth worked at R.R. Donnelly and Sons for 44 years. He worked in several areas and finished his career in 1997 as an industrial engineer.

Kenneth married Sandra Lofland in 2008; she survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Phillip (Becky), and daughter Teresa. Grandchildren, Joshua (Abby), Megan (Brian) Henderson, Jacob, Becca, and Madelyn; great-grandchildren Jackson Hall, Alex Brown, Sophia Brown, and Blakley Jeffers. Step Children: Luther Lofland Jr., Louanne Cole, and Lisa May. Step grandchildren: Luther Lofland III, Michael Adams, Conner May, Sariana Cole, Lauren Wolfs, Charlie Gray, and Emily Goldsmith. Step Great-grandchildren Kinslee Adams, Aislee Baldwin, Leia Wolfs, Lily Goldsmith, Makia & Christian Hall, and Emma & Cole Henderson. Sister-in-law Judith Miller. A special family friend, Cindy Good.

Kenneth served in the Army National Guard for 6 years as a Specialist 5th Class, First Cook. He was an assistant Boy Scout leader and treasurer for Troop 326 in Crawfordsville for 46 years. He went into scouting because his sons wanted to be scouts, and even after they both and a grandson became Eagle Scouts, he continued working with the troop to help hundreds of boys find the joy of being a scout and working towards becoming an Eagle Scout. He was the cook for campouts and scout dinners. He met with the troop every Tuesday night. He received many awards during his scouting years. Ken was a longtime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men, and later of the First Christian Church.

His hobbies were working outdoors, cooking, scouting, camping, working puzzles, and woodworking in his shop, which he built. He was also active with his wife, Sandra, for many years to raise funds to restore the clock tower at the Montgomery County Courthouse. The project was completed on May 17th, 2018, with the raising of the clock tower to the courthouse.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joyce, son Daniel, daughter Diana Cay, sister Kay, brother Ronald, and infant grandson Nicholas, and step-granddaughter Linda Jane Gray.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Darla Goodrich officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm on Wednesday, and 11-12 on Thursday. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill North Cemetery with military rites.
