Kenton H. "Abe" Long, 65, of Crawfordsville,
died Wednesday at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
Long was born Sept. 9, 1944 in Crawfordsville
to William and Violet Rivers Long. He married
Gecka Bean on July 23, 1977. She survives.
He served in Vietnam from 1965-1968. He was a member of
Byron Cox Post 72 American Legion and served many years
on the Honor Guard, 40 & 8 Voiture 21 in Terre Haute. He was
a life member of the VFW Post 3284 in Roachdale, DAV Mary
Trinkle Chapter 27 in Lafayette, and the West-Central Viet
Nam Veterans Association. He retired from Raybestos Manufacturing
in 2002 after 32 years.
He is survived by six sisters, Virginia (George) Brooks of
Franklin, Karen (Keith) Morgan, Glenda (Ruford) Davis, Germaine
(George) Million, Cheryl Bishop and Tamara Dawn
(Dale) Hampton, all of Montgomery County; three brothers,
Ronald, Dennis (Iva), and Terrence (Betty) Long, all of Crawfordsville;
three sons, Kenton D. and Eric "Tony" Long of Crawfordsville
and Tim Long of Greencastle; one daughter, Tonya
(Mike) Boze of Anderson; and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hunt & Son
Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Whitacre officiating.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home. Burial with military rites will be at Ladoga Cemetery.
