Laurel F. Gerold Sr., 85,
Crawfordsville, died Friday at
St.Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mr. Gerold had worked as
an engineer at Lewis Shepard
and retired from Hyster after
45 years in 1986.
He was a member of First
Baptist Church where he was a
deacon. He also was a longtime
member of the Boy Scouts of
America serving for many years
as scoutmaster of First Baptist Troop 325, also
serving on the district committee.He was awarded
the Silver Beaver, the district award and the national
Goodshepard religious award.He was a member
of the Firecrafter and Order of the Arrow Scouting
organizations.He also was part of the Headquarters
Batter 139th Field Artillery Indiana National Guard.
He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in
1941.
He was born Aug. 1, 1923 in Crawfordsville to
Jacob F. and E. Marie Neal Gerold. He married
Juanita Derleen Stockdale Oct. 31, 1943 at Wesley
Chapel. She died Nov. 2, 1991.
Survivors include sons Laurel F. (Larry) Gerold,
Crawfordsville, and John T. (Karen) Gerold, Crawfordsville;
daughter Geraldine Lynn (Frank) Stewart,
Montgomery County; nine grandchildren; 14
great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by sons Gregg A.Gerold
and Kevin L. Gerold; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m.
Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Revs.
Isaac Zull and James Ranard officiating. Burial
will be at Oak Hill South.Friends may call 4-8 p.m.
Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.
