Laurence (Larry) P. Shelton, 86, Crawfordsville, unexpectedly died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept
16, 2017 with his family at his side. He was born May 17, 1931 in Waveland to Howard and
Percyenne Shelton. After graduating from Wingate High School in 1949, he married Carolyn J.
Parker in Feb 1952.

Laurence served in the National Guard and worked at R. R. Donnelley, Raybestos, and the
Lane Nursing Home. He was the local Marathon Oil distributor for many years, then was a
partner with his son in the family business, Sam's Appliance/Midway Sales. He worked hard all
his life for his family, and was the best husband and father anyone could have hoped for.
He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, his sisters Marjorie and Rosemary, sons Jim (Jane)
and Sam (Cathy), six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents, brothers Bob and Joe, and sister Maxine.

Visitation is planned for 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, with funeral services at 11 a.m,
Thursday, Sept 21 at Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery
near Elmdale.
