Lewis F. Newkirk, 86, of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday at Hickory Creek of Crawfordsville.
Mr. Newkirk was born July 8, 1924 in Linden. He is the son of Franklin & Helen (Stevens) Newkirk
He attended Linden High School. He married Martha Kolkana.
He was a farmer and had retired from R.R. Donnelly's. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946. He is a member of Donnelly Club, American Legion and Disabled Veterans.
He is survived by sons, Mike (Connie) Newkirk of Darlington and David (Patricia) Newkirk of Crawfordsville; daughters, Sue Newkirk of Crawfordsville and Carolyn (Dale) Wrightsman of Florida; brother, Max (Norma) Newkirk of Lafayette; sister, Virginia Simms of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Father Dennis Faker will officiate the services. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Friends and family can pay their respects from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
