Lorran Virgil "Jerry" Lanum, 84, of Crawfordsville, passed away at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.
Mr. Lanum was born July 17, 1924 in Clinton County to Fred and Hazel (Shy) Lanum
He first married Helen Louise Dukes on Jan. 17, 1948. She passed away in 1973. He then married Ann Sabens Hughes on Aug. 16, 1974. She survives. He had been a plant manager for Thermogas/Milestone.
He served his country as a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a 50 year Mason of West Lafayette #724; Charter member and past president of Tippecanoe Shrine Club; Life member of VFW and American Legion; Member of Eagles Lodge; 50 year member of O.E.S #507 of W. Lafayette and a 32 degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Deborah "Debbie" (Robert) Pressler of Lafayette, Diedre "Dee Dee" (Richard) Beedle of Crawfordsville, Denise "Dodie" (Robert) Atkinson of Oxford; step-daughters, Paula Lang of Fairfield, Ohio, twins, Marla (Dan) Hodes of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Carla (Jeff) McGee of Bloomington; stepson, Brian (Mary) Hughes of Crawfordsville; brother, Jack Lanum of Frankfort; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Family friend Cathy Randles will officiate the service. Burial is at Mace Cemetery with burial rites by the VFW and American Legion.
Friends and family can pay their respects from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic rites are at 7:30 p.m.
