Margaret I. Grundy, 87, of Crawfordsville passed away at 12:47 pm Friday April 29, 2016 in her daughter's home. She spent her last few weeks battling illness, but rested easy with her entire family visiting her before she made her way to heaven peacefully.
She was born January 30, 1929 to Gilbert and Jesse Ramsay in Northumberland, England. She married John K. Grundy on October 15, 1949 in Singapore while serving in the British Royal Army. Both were veterans of World War II. In 1964, they relocated their family to the United States. Margaret devoted her life to taking care of her children as a homemaker. She loved the company of her large family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her husband John preceded her in death in July of 1996.
She is survived by her siblings; Audrey Addis, Maureen Hunter and Gilbert Ramsay, all of England. Also surviving are all of her six children; Carol (John) Majovsky, Mineral Ridge, Ohio; David (Pam) Grundy, Crawfordsville; Dylis (John) Beahrs, Kokomo; Michael Grundy, Crawfordsville; Patricia Francis, Crawfordsville; Christopher (Denise) Grundy, Lafayette.
Surviving grandchildren include: Kimberly (Billy) Williams, Columbus, OH; Jeffery (Dora) Hardacker, Crawfordsville; John (Cynthia) Grundy, Portage; Margaret (Vince) Houtari, Kokomo; John (Jennifer) Beahrs, Noblesville; Richard (Theresa) Helterbran, Hubbard, OH; Amy Smith, Lafayette, Travis (Cassi) Grundy, Crawfordsville; Joe (Theresa) Majovsky, Brookfield, OH; Craig (Tabitha) Majovsky, Hubbard, OH; JT Majovsky, Canton, OH; Sean (Molly) Grundy, Lafayette; Ashtin Francis, Crawfordsville; Patrick Francis, Nashville, TN; Andrew Grundy, Lafayette; Sarah (BJ) Newton, Crawfordsville; Jennifer (James) Crain, Lafayette; Haley Grundy, Lafayette; Zachary (Bethany) Grundy, Lafayette; and Kadie Grundy, Lafayette. Surviving great grandchildren are: Alyssa Hardacker, Crawfordsville; Donovan, Megan & Braydon Houtari, Kokomo; Ian Helterbran, Girard, OH; Christian & Donovan Williams, Columbus, OH; Jackson & Kaden Grundy, Crawfordsville; Braxton & Brantlee Crain, Lafayette, Liam & Lillian Grundy, Lafayette; Jake, John, Jillian, and Mason Majovsky, Girard, OH.
She was met in heaven by not only her husband, but also her parents, sisters Joyce Henderson and Kathleen Davidson and son-in-law, Michael Francis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 5:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 pm at Hunt and Son Funeral Service. A private graveside service for immediate family and close friends will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10:00 am.
