Margaret E. Thompson, 86, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009.
She graduated from New Richmond High School in 1940 and Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. She worked in an insurance office as a secretary until her grandpa, grandma and her dad got sick. Then she quit her job and came home and took care of them. She also took care of her mother, aunt and uncle.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was born Nov. 27, 1922, to Paul Hankins and Doris Kochell Hankins, around the Wingate area. She married William H. "Red" Thompson on Feb. 21, 1943, in the First United Methodist Church parsonage by the Rev. Howard Taylor. He survives.
Other survivors are a son, Dennis P. (Sally) Thompson of Crawfordsville; a granddaughter, Stephanie; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and niece, Bill and Cora Lewis, they will do almost anything I ask them to do. They came every week to see Mother.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Lewis and Rusty Carter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Grant Avenue. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until time of services.
