Marilyn C. Goebel, 93 of Springfield, IL, Formerly of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday at Lewis Memorial Christian Village, Springfield.

She was born January 29, 1926 in Hammond, IN to James & Grace Mavity Thrailkill.

She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, worked with the Candy Striper program, 50-year member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Teacher Friend, Williams Bowling Association, 4 bridge clubs, and a die-hard Cubs and Bears fan.

She married James Goebel May 22, 1948, he preceded her in death on May 30, 1996. She is survived by her sons James F. (Gail) Goebel; William A. (Teresa Davis) Goebel and Daughters Susan B (James) Bishop; Soledad DelRio, Flavia Cardoso, and Claudia Godhino; 8 grandchildren Justin Goebel, Ryan Goebel, Stephanie Goebel, Tyler Sanders, Logan Sanders, Rachel Goebel- Jewel, Rebecca Goebel, and Maddie Bishop as well as 7 great Grandchildren. She has 2 cousins whom she was raised with Miriam O'Leary and Don O'Connell.

She was preceded in death by her cousins Ed O'Connell, Rosmarie Hallinan, Donna Mae Konz and Robert O'Connell.

A funeral mass will be held at 1:00pm Thursday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Father Christopher Shocklee officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 Thursday at the church.
