Mark Spangler, 75, passed away on June 22 after a struggle with blood cancer surrounded by the love of his family. Mark was a man who knew how to get things done.
He was known for his resourcefulness, strong work ethic, and quiet strength. He spent much of his career with the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he took pride in serving the people of Indiana. Later, he was a beloved school bus driver for the Rensselaer School Corporation and Crawfordsville School District.
Mark shared a loving marriage with his wife, Debra. Together they build a life centered on family, faith and commitment. He was a devoted father to Cameron, Tiffany, Andy (Autumn), and Logan (Jalynn), and a proud grandfather to Link, Lulu, Scarlett and Stiles. His family brought him great joy, and he treasured the time he spent with them.
Mark was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Tiffany, who passed away at age 12 from muscular dystrophy; his parents, Floyd and Norma; his brother, Gale; and his sisters, Inga and Bonnie.
Those who knew Mark will remember that he always seemed to have a song in his heart. He would often break out into song without warning, bringing smiles to those around him. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially a mocha frappe from McDonald’s and had a special fondness for sea turtles. These small joys reflect his appreciation for the everyday blessings in life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra, his children Cameron, Andy (Autumn), Logan (Jalynn); his cherished grandchildren Link, Lulu, Scarlett, and Stiles; his nieces and nephews; many friends and his faithful canine companion, Asher.
Mark’s faith, love for family and steadfast spirit defined his life, though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 PM Friday, June 26th at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.
