Martha Jean Moffitt of Waynetown died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday
at Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. She was 89.
Mrs. Moffitt had worked at Cleveland Bakery; as a Realtor;
for State Farm; and Walmart as a greeter. Her memberships
included Wesley Methodist Church; 50-year member
Montgomery County Extension Homemakers past and county
president 1995-96; and Montgomery County Board of
Realtors. She was educated at Darlington High School.
She was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Montgomery County, to
Orville C. and Minnie May Farrow Lough. She married DeVon
Moffitt on July 28, 1940, at Greenfield. He died in April
1998.
Survivors include: two sons, Samuel H. (Betty) Moffitt and
Stephen R. (Bonnnie) Moffitt, both of Waynetown; a daughter,
Minnie (Doug) M. Harwood, Waynetown; three brothers,
Clifford (Sharon) Lough, Darlington, Max (Betty) Lough,
Thorntown, and Stanley L. (Pat) Lough, Darlington; a sister,
Audrey Dixon, Ladoga; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren;
and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother; a brother,
Howard; and two sisters, Lucille Lyon and Barbara Denny.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., with the Rev.
Allen Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home.
