Mary C. Clifton, 82, Crawfordsville, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday at Ben Hur Nursing Home where she had resided the past two years.
She was born on August 8, 1932 in Alamo to Gordon and Ethel (Fink) Elliott. She was a 1950 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. Mary was a beautician for many years. Her memberships included First United Methodist Church, Ladies Golf Association at the municipal golf course and was a charter member of Beta Alpha Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority. She was an avid golfer. She spent much of her time with her husband Ed, who coached baseball his entire adult life.
Survivors include her children Mickey Clifton of Crawfordsville and Joy Sue St. Martin of Tampa, brother, Ralph Elliot of Crawfordsville and niece Roberta Lashley of Crawfordsville. She is preceded in death by her husband Ed who passed in 2006, infant son Timmy, granddaughter Sydeny Chanell Hamm who passed in 2003, sisters, Grace Kelly and Kathryn Switzer, brothers, William Elliott, Cyrus Elliott who died in France in WWII and Presley Elliott.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Lewis. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Grant Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery County.
