Obituary

Max Melvin, of Crawfordsville, died at
4 a.m.Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
He was 80.
He was born in Crawfordsville to
Edmond Melvin and Norabel (Shafer)
Melvin. On Nov. 24, 1948, He married
Lois L. Wrightsman in Crawfordsville;
she survives.
He worked for the Crawfordsville
School Corporation for 31 years and was
a member of Sonlight Wesleyan Church.
He served in the National Guard from
1946 to 1949.
He is survived by eight
children:Marilyn Jo (Gary)
Wann of Newtown; Susan
Hunley, Betty Shofner, William (Yvonne)
Melvin, Miriam Kay Melvin, James
(YongHi) Melvin and Anna (Rodger)
Thacker, all of Crawfordsville; and
Charles (Joyce) Melvin of Waynetown.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and
29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Maxine Gearu, in 1971.

The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at
Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Keith
Jones officiating. Burial will be at Oak
Hill Cemetery North.Visitation hours are
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the
funeral home.
