Dr. Michael A. Blood passed away on July 16th, 2013 at the age of 57. He was a devoted husband, father, and philanthropist. Dr. Blood attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL, where he graduated with honors and was an active member of the Acacia fraternity. He earned his medical doctorate at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and completed his residency in family practice at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. Dr. Blood came to Crawfordsville in 1989 and practiced with Crawfordsville Family Care for 24 years. He was an active member of Liberty Chapel, a driving force for the new Boys and Girls Club in Montgomery County and an avid coach for youth sports. Dr. Blood devoted his life to serving others, specifically through medical missions in Haiti.
He is survived by his wife, June Blood, his children, Megan (Andrew) Wolfe, Kristen (Joe) Cravens, Daniel (Kristen) Blood and Jason Blood, his brother Glen (Marci) Blood, and his mother Ann Blood. He played as hard as he worked and fulfilled many of the items on his bucket list. Dr. Blood will be greatly missed by his family, friends, community and all the other lives he touched.
A celebration of Dr. Blood's life will be held on Saturday July, 20th from 2-5 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery County, 1001 N. Whitlock Ave, Crawfordsville, IN 47933. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Blood's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery County or Liberty Chapel (P.O. Box 146, Waynetown, 47990).
