Michael L. Newkirk, 67 of Darlington, passed away Wednesday June 10th, 2015 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community located in Mulberry, Indiana. He was born on August 6th, 1947 in Lafayette, to Lewis F. Newkirk and Martha M. (Kolkana) Newkirk. He was a graduate of Darlington High School and resided in Darlington for most of his life. He was married to Connie K. (Coddington) Newkirk on May 29th, 1983; she preceded him in death on January 3rd 2013. He retired from Raybestos and was a member of the Wabash Club. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends and had a great passion for his grandchildren. He is survived by son, Donnie Fassnacht of Lafayette, daughters, Tammy (Kirk) Ogden of Iowa, Dona (Michael) Mazur of Texas, Tina (Mike) Wolf of West Point, Sara (Jesse) Simon and Leah Newkirk both of California, brother, David Newkirk of Crawfordsville, sisters, Sue Newkirk of Crawfordsville and Carolyn Wrightsman of Linden. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 14th, 2015 at Hunt and Son Funeral Home.
