Morris E. "Booie" Priest, 86, of Crawfordsville,
passed away Monday at St. Clare Medical
Center.
A Montgomery County native, Mr. Priest
worked as a Web Pressman for R.R. Donnelley
for 42 years, retiring in 1986. He served in
the United States Marine Corps during World
War II and the Korean War. He was with the 3rd
Marine Division, which participated in several
invasions in the Pacific theater.
His community involvement includes memberships
with First Baptist church, Masonic
Lodge, Scottish Rite Shriners, 40 & 8, American Legion, Veterans
for Foreign Wars. He was an avid supporter of Crawfordsville football
teams. He also served on the Crawfordsville Police Reserves
for many years, and was commander for several years prior to
leaving the force.
He married Wanda Shepard May 4, 1946, she preceded him in death February 11, 2001.
He is survived by his daughter, Janeen Trinkle; his brothers,
William and Theron Priest; a granddaughter and a great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Bray; Grandson Jason Trinkle, his
brothers, John and Melvin; and sisters Virginia Sering, Doris
Hibschweiler and Jean Meese.
The service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist
Church. Rev. Isaac Hull will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Hill
Cemetery on Grant Avenue, with V.F.W. and Legion services.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at First
Baptist Church, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Open Door Sunday
School Class at First Baptist Church.
