Myron Terry Pattison, 82, died Saturday, December 11, after a short illness in Belleair, Florida, in the care of his family. He was born in on May 4, 1928, in Mace, IN, the only son of Mary Ellen Terry and Joseph William Pattison. He graduated from New Ross High School in 1948, where he was active in sports and band.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 424th Field Artillery Battalion. He graduated from Indianapolis Electronics School in 1949. Pattison married Patsy Jim Rudy in 1950, and she survives. He was recalled to active duty from 1950-1952 during the Korean conflict.
Pattison established Pattison's TV and Appliance Service in 1953 and in 1968 created a partnership to build Crawfordsville Community Cable Corporation. Merging with Cardinal Communications, Inc. in 1972, Pattison became the President and Chief Operating Officer of the company. His business associations included serving as President of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Illinois-Indiana Cable Television Association, Director of the National Cable Television Association, Director of CSPAN, Board Member of the Crawfordsville Electric and Power Company, Board Member of Elston Bank of Crawfordsville, and Board Member of The First National Bank of Crawfordsville.
From 1968-1993, Pattison's company was responsible for building and managing Indiana cable TV systems in Crawfordsville, Frankfort, Connersville, Seymour, Rushville, Brookville, New Albany, North Vernon, and Vernon. The company also purchased and managed existing system in Columbus, Peru, Wabash, Delphi, Monticello, Brookston, Chalmers, and Remington. In 1993, Cardinal Communications sold the business, and Pattison retired.
In his retirement, Pattison continued as an entrepreneur and community philanthropist. He developed Golf View Estates, a condominium community. He and his wife purchased and donated Crawfordsville Vanity Theatre to the Sugar Creek Players. They built and donated Pattison Pavilion at the Lane Place in Crawfordsville, and established the "Myron and Patsy Pattison Scholarship Fund" to benefit undergraduate students. Pattison served as Deacon at Smartsburg Christian Church, was a member of First United Methodist Church, The Crawfordsville Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and a 31° Mason. He was also a member of the Elks lodge and the American Legion.
Including his wife Patsy of 60 years, Pattison is survived by sons James Pattison (Carol), Michael Pattison (Beth), Randy Pattison (Lisa); daughter Dianna Feldman (Stanley); grandchildren James Pattison, II (Tammi), Jennifer Cavalcanti (Erik), Michelle Pattison (Thomas Markle), Chelsea Jo Conard (Danny), Alex, Elliott, and Erin Feldman, Elise, Stephanie, Pierce, and Isabella Pattison, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hunt and Son Funeral Service in Crawfordsville on Saturday, December 18th, starting at 10am, with a memorial service beginning at 2pm. Immediately following will be a military burial at Oak Hill Cemetery at the Mausoleum.
