Norma Jean Swenke, 81, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday at home with her family.

She was born March 25, 1935 in Crawfordsville to Cline and Wanetah Addler Wray.  Norma graduated from CHS in 1953 and was a graduate of IU with a degree in Education and DePauw University with a Master's degree. She taught at Laura Hose Elementary, was owner and teacher at Jack and Jill Nursery School.  She and her husband owned Swenke Satellite for over 20 years and were one of the first dealers in Montgomery county. Norma was also a part owner of S&S concessions for many years.  They spent several winters in Florida.  Norma enjoyed the outdoors, flowers and being with her family.

She was a member of Ben Hur Car Club, Elks Lodge, and former member of Beta Phi sorority

Norma married Louis F. Swenke February 9, 1958, he preceded her in death June 26, 2013.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Sheila) Swenke, Brownsburg; daughters Beth (Mike) Page of Crawfordsville and Nancy (David) McGaughey of Crawfordsville; Sister Patricia Smith of Bloomingdale, Brother in law Richard Swenke, Danville, sister in laws Dorothy Lundburg of California and Carolyn Mouat, Florida; and Aunty Barbara Weitz of Florida. She has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter Karen Jean.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Fay officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery North.  Visitation will be from 1-4pm Sunday at the funeral home.
