Norman Francis Zahn was born on May 17 th , 1928 in Indianapolis to Curtis Roy Zahn and Alice Mae (Vorheim) Zahn. He attended Emmerich Manual High School. At an early age he confessed his belief in Jesus Christ at Garfield Park Church of God. He married Hazel Maxine (DeWitt) Zahn in 1947 and they remained married until her untimely passing in 1985. He served in the Army surviving Hill 266 during the Korean War. Upon his return, he began his lifelong occupation of carpet installation. Norman and Maxine had two children Norman Robert and Robyn Lynn. Norman remarried Betty I. Zahn 1986.
Our Father, known as "Lefty", was a loving and caring man. He enjoyed his work and passed on his skills to those around him. Dad had a zest for life, he was content with who and what he was. He was Master Mason and 50-year member of the Southport Lodge. While living Crawfordsville he was a member of the First United Methodist Church. In later years he became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Brownsburg.
Norman was reunited with his parents, wives Maxine and Betty, siblings; Grace (Zahn) Trossel, Robert, and Roy Zahn on August 2 nd .
Norman is with our Lord in Heaven, awaiting the arrival of those remaining behind. His brother James Duncan; Children, Bob and (Rita) Zahn, Robyn and Bernard) Thompson. Grand Children, Jason Waggoner, Dustin Zahn, Hannah Thompson, Nathaniel Thompson, Great Granddaughter Elle Waggoner.
Graveside services will be held 11:00am Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery,1977 S State RD 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
Visitation will be held 4-7pm Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home.
