Norvella M Timmons, 79, of Crawfordsville, passed away Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.

Mrs. Timmons was born Oct. 20, 1928 in Greencastle, the daughter of Harold Pitts and Erma Verda (Haffner) Pitts and was later adopted by Orpha and Verda Haffner.

She graduated from Darlington High School in 1946. She was married first to Everett Lyle Graham. He died in 1974. She then married Chester R. "Chet" Timmons. He died March 7, 2008. She retired from J.C. Penney's after 17 years. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughters, Dixie Trinkle of Crawfordsville and Rhonda Sandaffer of Lafayette; brother, Bob Hoosier of Indianapolis; sister, Fern Rose of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, including Cherylyn Dailey whom she raised; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Berdette Haffner and Harold; and sisters, Betty, Lois and Bernice.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Brouwer officiating. Burial is at Oak Hill Cemetery on Grant Avenue.

Friends and family can pay their respects from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
