Obituary

Orville Franklin Shoaf, 90, Crawfordsville, passed away Thursday October 10, 2013.
Orville attended Crawfordsville schools before entering the U.S. Navy. He served from 1941 to 1945, during Pearl Harbor, onboard U.S.S. Bret Hart in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans that escorted conveys to France, Belgium and Italy.
His memberships included Whitesville Christian Church, Elks and American Legion where he belonged for more than 60 years.
He was born on October 3, 1923 in Crawfordsville to Orville F. and Pearl (McCollum) Shoaf, Sr. He married Betty Cox on October 28, 1950 and she survives. Also surviving are his children Larry (Paula) Shoaf of California, Sandi (Gary) Anderson of Crawfordsville and Debi Shoaf-Flick (Alan Pierce) of Darlington. In addition seven grandchildren and one great grandchild survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Whitacre. Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers may be made to the Animal Shelter with envelopes available in the funeral home.
