Obituary

Paul David ("Dave") Carey, 81, Crawfordsville, passed away Monday afternoon at Indiana University Hospital surrounded by family. Dave was born July 4, 1942, in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Aletha Keller and Paul David Carey.  He was a Retiree of RR Donnelly & Sons. He was a proud member of the Marine Corps., American Legion, and Loyal Order of the Moose.

Dave was a devoted and loving father, Grandfather ("Poppie"), and Great Grandfather. Dave married Sharon (Shari) E. Oppy on July 14, 1963.  Shari preceded him in death.

Family was everything to Dave. Dave spent his retirement doing things with his family, traveling, and enjoying life to its fullest. Dave's legacy is the strength, core values, and love he instilled in his family that will continue for generations to come.

Surviving him are his children, Penny Carey of Lebanon, Sean (Tammy) of Crawfordsville, and Holly (Mark) Mayer of Logansport; his sister, Alice Carey, of Crawfordsville.  Also surviving are grandchildren, Alyssa Carey, Austin Carey, Cami (Zach) Riedel, Christian (Bailee) Hall, Brayton (Shelby) Carey, and Colin Hall along with great-grandchildren, Qwinton Carey, Casen Hiatt, Luna Carey, Cora Mae Riedel with baby Phoebe Carey, and Baby Hall on the way.


Funeral services are scheduled for 6:00 PM Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Fruits officiating.  Friends may call at 2 PM until services start on Friday. Cremation will follow services.
