Paul LaVern French of Oak Hills Farms went home to be with God on January 23, 2016 in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Paul LaVern, was known more as LaVern to his family and friends. Mr. French was born in rural Montgomery County Indiana. Most of his early life was spent in and around New Ross, Indiana. He graduated from New Ross High School in 1947.LaVern started his career in the dairy industry as entrepreneur owning and operating his own milk route across Montgomery County. LaVern was drafted in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army for 21 months. Serving in Korea, he rose to the rank of Sgt. First Class. He later went to Indiana University and graduated in 1957. During his work life, he managed Dairy Companies in Alabama, Georgia, Ohio and Virginia. When retired, he was involved in developing Oak Hill Farms subdivision in Crawfordsville. LaVern accepted the Lord as a teen and was baptized in the New Ross Christina Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and Korean War Veterans. LaVern married Mary Maureen Huffman of New Ross June 16, 1956. LaVern is survived by Maureen, along with their three children John French, Susan French Johnson, and Jennifer AnnFrancis and his brother Jack L. French. He has 5 grandchildren.
The calling will be Friday, January 29 from 5-7pm at Hunt & Son Funeral Home on 107 North Grant Avenue in Crawfordsville.
