Paul Thomas “Tom” Servies, 93, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away on April 22, 2026.
Tom was born on February 25, 1933, in Crawfordsville, to Foster D. Servies and Catherine T. Servies. He was raised on a family farm alongside his six siblings, an upbringing that shaped his strong work ethic and lifelong appreciation for family.
Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army from February 1953 to January 1955. During his service, he completed engineering school and was stationed in Germany with the 485th Engineer Combat Battalion.
On June 18, 1953, he married the love of his life, Phyllis J. Long. While he worked as a boiler operator for The Crawfordsville Light and Power Company for 11 years, he co-founded the U-Rent-It Center in Crawfordsville in 1964 with his brothers, Max and Charles, becoming a respected local businessman.
Together Tom and Phyllis shared many wonderful years until her passing on November 26, 2015. They enjoyed traveling and especially cherished spending their winters in Florida. Tom had a passion for golf and treasured the time he spent on the course with friends.
He was an active member of several organizations, including the VFW Post 1431, American Legion Post 72, Moose Lodge Post 6, Elks Lodge, American Rental Association, and Forty & Eight.
Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a steady and caring presence in the lives of his family and friends, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a helping hand. Whether on the golf course, traveling with Phyllis, or simply spending time with those he loved, Tom found joy in life’s simple moments.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Brenda J. Servies, and son-in-law, Tim Perry; grandchildren Julie (Greg) Hutson, Paul (Sherrie) Hintz, Terri (Jeff) Flaurr, and Chelsea (Brooke) Bellendir; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis; his son, Gregory A. Servies; his daughter, Kimberly A. Perry; and his granddaughter, Stacey Lobosky.
Visitation will be held at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., Crawfordsville, on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery South with Military rites by the American Legion Post 72 Honor Guard and the US Army
Tom will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the friendships he built throughout his life.
