Rebecca J. Groves of Crawfordsville died at 11 a.m.Tuesday.
She was 88.
Mrs. Groves worked as a librarian, art educator
and singer. She moved to Crawfordsville
in the late 50s as head librarian for the
Carnegie Library. She was involved with multiple
musical endeavors as well as directing
preservation of the Old Jail Museum.
She earned a bachelor's degree at Miami
University and a master's degree in library
science at Indiana University.
She was born July 28, 1922, at Paris, Ill., to Arthur and Tatt
Jones. She married Aquilla W. Groves in 1960 at Crawfordsville.
He is deceased.
A son Charles A. Groves survives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday in Hunt
& Son Funeral Home, 107 N. Grant Ave., with Raymond
Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery North.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral
home.
