Richard L. Southern, 63, Crawfordsville, died 9:26 p.m. Sunday at St. Clare Medical Center.
Mr. Southern had worked for RR Donnelly.
His memberships included Masonic Lodge at New Richmond and NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Association. He enjoyed junior drag racing with his grandson Skyler and playing poker.
He was born July 27, 1944, at Lafayette, to Otis and Eileen (Oswalt) Southern. He attended South Western High School at Lafayette. He married Carol Jordan Feb. 15, 1969. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Lafayette; daughters Brookannna (Michael) Pickett and Brandi Williams, both of Crawfordsville; stepsons Brian (Lisa) Cooper, Crawfordsville, and Brett Cooper, Russellville; brother Kenny, Romney; sisters Helen House, Michigan, and Linda Fields, Lafayette; and nine grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of his life will be conducted at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to a fund set up at Fountain Trust Bank, Crawfordsville, for continuing grandson Skyler's drag racing.
