Robert C. Rhoads, 87, of Crawfordsville died Saturday at St.
Elizabeth Hospital East in Lafayette.
He was a retired mechanic at McDaniels
then Ruan Trucking in Indianapolis.
He served in the U.S. Army during World
War II. He was a member of the American
Legion and attended First Christian Church.
He attended Crawfordsville High School.
He was born June 23, 1923 in Montgomery
County to Fred and Edna (Logan)
Rhoads. He married Mildred Carroll in 1945.
She survives.
He also is survived by son Lloyd Rhoads (Linda),
daughter Janet Crumm (David), sister Jean
Davenport, four grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters Thelma Alexander
and Marie Carothers, parents, and step mother Mattie Foush
Rhoads.
Services will be at Hunt & Son Funeral Home at noon
Wednesday. The Rev. Roger Ward will officiate.
He will be buried at Mace Community Cemetery with military
rites by the American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from
10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
