Obituary

N. Robert Smith of Crawfordsville died at 7:29 p.m.Wednesday
in the emergency room of Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health-
Crawfordsville. He was 86.
Mr. Smith retired in 1990 as executive vice president of Ben
Hur Life.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a
B29 pilot. His memberships included Wabash Avenue Presbyterian
Church, Boys & Girls Club board of directors for many
years, American Legion 72, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1438,
Eagles 483 and Crawfordsville Country Club. He graduated in
1942 from Crawfordsville High School.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, at Covington, to Norman and
Mary Blessing Smith. He married Rose Emma Crumley on
Jan. 11, 1944. She died Oct. 18, 1996.
Survivors include: son Stephen Smith of Overland Park,
Kan.; daughter Carol Lawrence of Crawfordsville; brother Merle
W. Smith of Crawfordsville; one grandchild; and two greatgrandchildren.
Brother Russell and sister Arlene McConnell are deceased.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Hunt
& Son Funeral Home, 107 N.Grant Ave., with the Rev. John Van
Nuys officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
Friends may call 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery
County
