IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodger K
Buck
March 4, 1941 – October 12, 2025
Rodger K. Buck, 84, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on March 4, 1941, Rodger was a proud graduate of Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1959. He later attended Bailey Institute in St. Louis, Missouri, and was drafted into the U.S. Army — a uniform he wore proudly in service to his country.
Rodger was a hardworking man who followed his passion for cars throughout his life. He began by operating the Shell Gas Station on Darlington Avenue before opening Buck's Service Center, where he could do what he loved — working under the hood, especially on Ford Mustangs. Later, he launched Buck's Carpet Cleaning and spent nine years co-owning property in Mansfield, Indiana, home of the Covered Bridge Festival.
Rodger was a proud member of the Charioteers Car Club and spent countless hours restoring John Deere tractors — and even a couple of "red" ones. He loved camping and golfing, but his happiest place was always Fort Myers Beach. He also treasured his morning breakfasts with friends at the Darlington Mini Mart, where the group tackled solving the world's problems one conversation at a time. More than anything, he loved supporting his grandchildren and never missed a chance to cheer them on at their sporting events.
A man of strong Catholic faith, Rodger was a dedicated member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
On October 6, 1968, Rodger married the love of his life, Becky (Smith) Buck. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky; daughters April (Phil) Littell and June Moss; and grandchildren Hannah and Grace Littell, and Jada and Cruz Moss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine and John Vincent Buck; his brother, Martin Buck; and his son-in-law, Mike Moss.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Crawfordsville. A Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 noon, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Military Rites will be rendered at graveside by American Legion Pos 72 Honor Guard and the US Army.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home, honoring Rodger's service and commitment to fellow veterans.
