Rosalee ("Rosie") Mellady, 73, of Crawfordsville, died at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, December 7th. She had been battling cancer since 2001. She died peacefully in her sleep at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 3, 1939, in Lafayette, to Kenneth and Juanita Stoops. She grew up in Romney where she met her husband Alan Mellady. She graduated from Southwestern High School in 1958 and was married and moved to Crawfordsville later that year. She and Alan celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past August.
Rosie retired from Lithonia Hi-Tek in 2002 after working there for 25 years. She was a parishioner at St. Bernard's Catholic Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, playing euchre and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Alan, daughters Michelle Dooley of Greensburg, Indiana, Susan Parks (husband Greg), of Greenwood, Indiana, and Maria Mellady of Denver, Colorado, sons Michael Mellady (wife Jolinda) of Crawfordsville and Matthew Mellady (wife Boi) of Woodstock, Maryland, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 3 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patty Bush of Glendale, Arizona, and her first-born, infant son Terry.
Friends may call at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1306 East Main Street, Crawfordsville, Indiana. The Rosary will be said from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by visitation from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be conducted by Father Dennis Faker, followed immediately by burial at Calvary Cemetery. A reception at St. Bernard's will follow.
