Ruby Ann Vail, 91, of Crawfordsville passed away Monday afternoon, Jan. 1, 2024, at Franciscan Health, Lafayette, surrounded by her nieces.

Ruby was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Montgomery County, to Floyd and Pauline (Parker) Henderson. She graduated from Waveland High School in 1950.

She married James T. Vail of Linden on Dec. 22, 1956. They celebrated 53 years together before his death in 2009.

Surviving are three very special nieces, Karen (Dennis) Brooks, Sharen (Rick) Linn and Denise (Bob) Reese, and their children and grandchildren, along with several other nieces and nephews.

She was employed at Indiana Gas & Water Co, RR Donnelley & Sons, Tipmont REMC (where she retired after 28 years in 1992). She was a member of Smartsburg Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Floyd and Thurman Henderson and Winnie Brown; and special nephew, Larry Brown (living spouse Debbie).

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Tammi Mussche officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery.
