Russell Glenn "Tuck" Miller, 83, Crawfordsville, passed away Monday at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born on January 20, 1931 in Clinton Falls on a farm to Charles Oral and Verna Clare (Lewis) Miller. He graduated from Roachdale High School in 1949 and was a Sergeant in the Korean War. He had worked for R.R. Donnelly's for 45 years.
His memberships included American Legion Post #72, where he held all offices including Commander, 1970-1971, and Southern Vice Commander, 1985-1986, 6th District Commander, 1971-1972 and served with their Honor Guard, Christ's United Methodist Church, American Legion, Eagles and Roachdale V.F.W. In addition he was an outstanding basketball player who was voted Mr. Putnam County. Tuck went to I.U to play basketball but quit and it was Branch McCracken that came to the farm to get him to come back to school.
He married Martha "Dete" Parker of Wingate , she survives and they had a happy life together. Also surviving are a brother, Earl "Duke" Miller, sister, Mary Alice Cox and sister-in-laws, Sally Miller and Helen Miller. In addition several nieces and nephews survive.
He is preceded in death by a son, Brian Miller and two brothers Charles and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Renick officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery south with military rites by the American Legion and V.F.W. Friends may call 4-7 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
