Ruth M. Pierce, 84, of Crawfordsville
died at 3:37 a.m., Wednesday at Lane
House Nursing Home.
She graduated from New Richmond
High School and later became a bookkeeper
for Sears
Born Aug. 3, 1924, in New Richmond
she was the daughter of Lowell A. and
Mary Line Cook.
She married John William (Bill) Pierce
on Aug. 25, 1946, in New Richmond. He
is deceased.
Survivors include two sons, William
Edward (Ed) Pierce of Terre Haute and
Joseph R. Pierce of Doylestown, Pa.; two
daughters, Rebecca L. (Beckie) Zachary
of Indianapolis and Marcia E. Pierce of
Crawfordsville; five sisters, Shirley Pryor
of Charleston, S.C., Sarah Suiters of
Lafayette, Kathy Harbison of Roachdale,
Sue Rasmussen of Attica and Jennifer
Lennertz of Lafayette; two brothers, Phil
Cook of Romney and Mike Cook of
Ocala, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter,
Virginia Pierce; a sister, Frances Purdue;
and three brothers, Harold, Tom and Jim
Cook.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at
Hunt & Sons Funeral Home with Minister
Nancy Frick officiating. Burial will be in Oak
Hill Cemetery North.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.
