Obituary

Ruth Evelyn Woerner Shaw of Crawfordsville died Saturday, June 25, 2011. She was 97 years old.

She was born in Adrian, Michigan, on March 7, 1914, to August and Mary Opal (Quackenbush) Woerner. She graduated from Adrian High School. She married Edward William Shaw in Crawfordsville, IN, on April 24, 1936. He preceded her in death in December, 1964.

Mrs. Shaw was the first secretary of Mt. Zion Elementary School and later served two elected terms as Recorder of Montgomery County. She enjoyed being with family, sewing, playing golf and cards,

growing flowers and reading. She volunteered at the Well Baby and Adult Clinics, The Wesley Thrift

Shop, and the gift shop at Culver Hospital.

Her memberships include The First United Methodist Church, The Crawfordsville Art League, the Woman's Golf League and the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by daughter, Susan (William) Shier of Cadillac, Michigan, and son, David (Marcia) Shaw of rural Waveland, Indiana; Granddaughter, Anne (Chris) Moore of Indianapolis; Grandsons, Michael (Jessie) Shier and John (Fiancée- Brittany) Shier of Cadillac, Michigan; Ryan (Shari) Shaw of New Ross, Indiana; and Step-grandson Jerod Fitzwater of Crawfordsville. She has four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. She is survived by one brother, Norris Woerner, of Green Valley, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Nancy Gail Shaw; two brothers LaVerne (Skip) Woerner and Raymond Woerner.

Private grave side services will be conducted by Rev. Alan Goff and held at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery, Waynetown, Indiana.
