Shirley I. Stevenson, 80, Crawfordsville, died Saturday morning at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Stevenson was an instructor for Western Union Schools in the Ben Hur Building until it closed. She also worked for Raybestos Manhattan in the front office and human resources from 1955-85.
She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a past matron and held local and state offices; Pythians, where she was past grand press correspondent for Pythian Sisters and past chief for Pythian Sisters; First Baptist Church; and Pink Lady at St. Clare Medical Center. She also had a home for 10 years in Sebring, Fla.
She was a graduate of Albert Lee High School in Albert Lee, Minn.
She was born July 14, 1926 at Lincoln, Neb. to Henry and Valma (Deeds) Dulitz. She married John Hammons. He died Sept. 2, 1993. She then married Fred Stevenson. He survives.
Also surviving are stepdaughters, Cathy Beemer, Chapel Hill, N.C.; and Caroline Rush, Greenwich, Conn.; and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Strain officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery North. Visitation hours are 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1905 Lebanon Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
