Shirley Ann Whitecotton, 84 passed away Thursday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 23, 1928 in Crawfordsville to Mary Magdalene Eustus and John Leslie Whitecotton. She attended Linden Grade school and graduated from Crawfordsville High School. She married Walter Lee Whitecotton on December 17, 1945 in Geneva, NY.
Shirley organized the Montgomery County Easter Seal Society in 1958 and was an active volunteer for Easter Seals for 25 years on a local, state and national level.
She was employed as Executive director of the Montgomery County Tuberculosis Association from 1966 to 1973. She joined the staff of Culver Union Hospital as a patient representative in 1978 and retired in 1986.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Lady Elks.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Leslie Ann Lawrence of Crawfordsville, two grandsons David (Karin) Hunt, and Robert Hunt (James Heinzman); Son in Law Tom Hunt and Great Grandchildren Holly and Kyle Hunt, all of Crawfordsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, and daughter Mary Laura Hunt.
Services will be held at Hunt & Son Funeral Home at 3PM Sunday with Pastor Doug Givan officiating. Interment will be in the Freedom Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Montgomery County or the Animal Welfare League.
