Stanley Bruce Hood, 77, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed away on June 14, 2026, at the Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis after a sudden illness.
Born on July 17, 1948, and adopted by Lawrence and Mildred Hood. Stan proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later in the Gulf War, specifically Desert Storm Operation.
On February 12, 1972, Stanley married his beloved wife, Pamela Leah (Roach) Barton. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage. She proceeded him in death in 2023.
Following his military service in Vietnam, Stan worked at Hyster in Crawfordsville until their closing. Later, he became a truck driver with different companies until his retirement. During retirement he loved tinkering in his shed, mowing his yard, drinking coffee, and talking with his neighbors. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. Stan is survived by his son Jason Hood, daughter Melanie Hood, grandchildren Hannah Hood, Leah (Jacob) Williams. Great grandchildren Elaina, Elliot, Lennon, Everleigh, Lakelyn, Lincoln and Hadley Williams. He was preceded in death by infant son Steven Allen Hood, son Bruce Neil Hood, and parents Lawrence and Mildred Hood.
The funeral service will be held on 2:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2026 at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Ferren officiating from Stringtown Church of God. Visitation will be 12-2 Friday. Internment with military honors by the U.S. Army and the American Legion Post #72 will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, 392 Oak Hill Road, Crawfordsville, Indiana. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hunt & Sons Funeral Home, 107 N Grant Ave, Crawfordsville, Indiana.
