Obituary

On October 27th, 2023, Steven L Padgett left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was born on March 23rd, 1953 in Lafayette Indiana to Martin and Gloria Ruth Padgett.

Steve is survived by his wife Dianna of 46 ½ years, children Heather Lancaster, Amber (Shawn) Alexander, Stephanie (Darin) Perkins, and Martin Padgett, and a son-in-law Jerry Lancaster. Steve was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Audrey,  Blake (Aislynn), Kayllea, Chloee, Alexsiz, Kiva, Silas, Sawyer, Lydia, Faith, Cohen, Ashley & Autumn. 2 great-grandchildren Paislee and Declan. Steve is also survived by his mother Gloria Ruth Padgett and brother Gary Padgett who was also his best friend and was there when he needed him.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Martin Padgett, his three sons who died before birth, his granddaughter Haven, and his great-grandson, Jameson.

Steve proudly served our country in the Air Force.

He owned and operated Padgett Remodeling for 25 years.

He was a long-time member and deacon at Linden Baptist Church and for the past 20 years, he has been visiting churches and nursing homes to share the gospel with all who would listen. Whether it was friends or medical staff, everyone who spoke with him knew that Jesus was his Lord and Savior within a few minutes of the conversation.

His faith kept him going through his long medical journey as he fought hard to stay with his family whom he loved more than anything else in this world.  He went to every sports and school event he could, called his children every day to check in (sometimes more than once), and spent every holiday making memories.

He supported his daughter's small business by telling everyone to buy a T-shirt from them. Steve also referred to himself as beauty, beauty Padgett. And was known by one granddaughter as twinkle toes. He was one proud Dad and Pappy.

He was known for his sense of humor and for making everyone around him laugh at his jokes.

The family would like to thank his sister-in-law Freda Terman for always being there for them and all of his Davita girls for taking such amazing care of their Dad. He truly loved you all like you were family.

Steve will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. He is no longer in pain and dancing on the streets of Heaven.  Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Martel Paddock officiating. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #72 and the United States Air Force.  Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow the services.
