Obituary
Teresa Elaine (Denhart) Ramey, 42, of Crawfordsville passed away in her home on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 after courageously battling breast cancer for 7 years. During this time, she inspired so many with her amazing spirit, fierce tenacity, and positive attitude. Teresa was born June 17, 1971 in Danville, Illinois to Bob and Mary Elaine (Smith) Denhart. She married Robert W. Ramey of Crawfordsville, Indiana on August 7, 1993.
Teresa graduated from Covington High School in 1989 and Purdue University in 1993. She began her career as a teacher at the Even Start Family Literacy Program. She then worked as an independent contractor for the State of Indiana to coordinate the Step Ahead and First Steps programs in Fountain and Warren counties. Prior to leaving the workforce, Teresa also worked for the Community Action Program of Western Indiana as a Tobacco Cessation Coordinator. She was a member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
Teresa devoted her life to her children. She loved spending time with them and watching them participate in their various activities.
Teresa is survived by her husband Rob; daughters Rachel Elaine Ramey and Kendal Bea Ramey; parents Bob and Mary Elaine Denhart; grandmother Betty Smith; brother Allen (Julia) Denhart; mother-in-law Becky Ramey; father-in-law Mark (Deb) Ramey; grandmother-in-law Betty Gravett; brother-in-laws Brian, Scott (Michele), and Jon (Sharon) Ramey; sister-in-law Shelby Ramey; and several nieces and nephews.
Grandfather Robert E. Smith, grandfather Walter Denhart and grandmother Elizabeth Denhart preceded Teresa in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. John Van Nuys officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will take place 4-8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Crawfordsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marie Canine Cancer Center, 1706 Lafayette Road Crawfordsville, IN 47933, in memory of Teresa.
