IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terry Lee
Hockersmith
June 23, 1954 – August 6, 2020
Terry Lee Hockersmith peacefully took his final breath on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He had quietly battled cancer for some time.
He was born June 23, 1954, at Crawfordsville, to Perry (Icky) and Lola (Sissy) Hockersmith; Sissy survives.
He attended New Market schools and was part of the first graduating class of South Montgomery High School in 1972. He played as both center and linebacker on the undefeated 1971-72 Mountie football team, for which he was later inducted into the South Montgomery Football Hall of Fame.
He married Carol Lynn Whicker on June 7, 1985. Together they raised five children, Jennifer (Chris) Andel, Jamie (Paul) Greene, Brandi (Michael) Plant, Jeigh Hockersmith and Zach (Casey) Hockersmith. Terry was fiercely proud of his eight grandchildren, Blake, Devan, Riley, Jaxon, Sam, Trevor, Hudson and Camden. All survive. Terry is also survived by his sister, Debbie (JD) Watson, and his nephew Paul (Celeste) Watson.
Terry had a passion for public service and represented the citizens of Montgomery County as a Councilman and Commissioner for 24 years, planning to cease this role the end of 2020.
Terry loved the Lord with all of his heart and shared that with anyone. He gave God the glory in all things and never failed to see His blessings in life — even when his personal journey became difficult. Terry would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Grace Bible Church, P.O. Box 235, Meeker, Colorado, 81641.
Friends and family may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12 and a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. Both services will be held at Rock Point Church in Crawfordsville. We will bury his earthly body at Indian Creek Cemetery in Waveland, immediately following the funeral.
Hunt and Son Funeral Home is assisting the family and online condolences and memories may be left at www.huntandson.com.
