Vera B. Francis, 101, of
Mulberry and formerly of
Crawfordsville, died at the
Mulberry Retirement and
Health Center, 11:45 p.m. Friday.
She ran a neighborhood
grocery and later a lunch
room until 10 years before she
retired. She was also a member
of Christ's United
Methodist Church.
Born Feb. 2, 1908 in Perrysville
to Joseph and
Gertrude (Wilson) Adams,
she was the oldest of eight
siblings.
She married Byron "Barney"
Francis on April 7, 1928.
He died in Jan. of 1986.
Surviving her is son Fred
A. Francis of Crawfordsville,
daughter Freida A. Francis of
West Lafayette along with
several nieces and nephews
and one grandchild, Max
Downey.
She was preceded in death
by daughters, Dr. Kay Welsh,
Ev Hutchinson and Sarah Ellison.
A graveside funeral will take
place at 2 p.m. Thursday at
Oak Hill Cemetery North with
a visitation from 1-2 p.m. at
Hunt and Son Funeral Home.
