Virginia Hays, 86, of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday evening.
Mrs. Hays was born March 7, 1922 in Robinson, Ill., the daughter of Irvin L. and Fern (Boyd) Henderson.
She attended Central Business College. She married William Hays in Washington D.C. in 1942. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was active in MUFFY, the Family Crisis Shelter and Montgomery County Community Foundation among others. She was also awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash and married to the former mayor of Crawfordsville, Will Hays.
She is survived by son, William H. Hays, III of Bloomington; daughters, Katherine (John) Fox of Lake Forest, Ill., and Amy Hays of Bloomington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wabash College Pioneer Chapel. The Rev. Larimore K. Wickett will officiate the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, MUFFY or the Family Crisis Shelter.
