It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William A. "Billy" Fitzwater, A man with a beautiful and loving soul. Billy, 69, of Largo, Florida transitioned out of this life Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at his daughters home in Fishers, Indiana.
Billy was born on March 10, 1956 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Arlie Fitzwater and Carol Francis. He was a 1974 graduate of Southmont High School. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. He owned Fitzwater Pest Control in Crawfordsville and then worked for 34 years for Terminix Pest Control.
Billy loved fishing, mushroom hunting, watching baseball, listening to music and drinking his coffee black. He also enjoyed being an Uber driver and meeting and talking with new people. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Francis, whom he loved dearly, his wife Shelly Fitzwater, his children, Holly (Jesse) Horsfall, Neil Fitzwater, and Ashley Fitzwater. Siblings Donna Myers, Arlene (Doug) Edwards, Sandy (Roger) Harshbarger, Kimberly Francis, and Keri Francis, as well as step siblings, Debbie Francis, Sally Francis, Carla Hurt, Jeff Francis, Chris Francis, Pam Bagley, Scott Francis, Amy Peters, and JD Francis. He has 2 grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Gangwer, and many nieces and nephews.
Was preceded in death by his father Arlie Fitzwater and step father, Phil Francis as well as a sister, Patty Fitzwater and step siblings Mike Francis, Randy Francis and Jan Sullivan and nephew, Terrence Fitzwater and niece, Brittany Paris.
A Memorial service will be held 1:00pm Thursday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor David Keesee officiating. Vistation will take place from 11-1pm Thursday. Military honors will be rendered at 1:00pm by Byron Cox Post 72 Honor Guard and the US Navy. A reception will follow the services at the American Legion Post 72, 101 Walter Remley Drive, Crawfordsville.
Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery North.
