Nancy Monroe, 81 of Crawfordsville, passed away Sunday, January 4, at Franciscan Hospital East in Lafayette, after a lengthy battle with dementia.

She was born July 26, 1944, in Crawfordsville to Homer & Vera Birge Arterburn.  In 1965, she married James Monroe, who preceded her in death in 2016.

Nancy was a member of the Eagles and active in the Red Hats. She worked various jobs at the Terrace Restaurant in the Holiday Inn, The Lane House, Mr. Gattis, Fuji Color, and Walmart DC 6028 before retiring. She loved camping at Sugar Mill Lake and spending time with her grandkids.

She is survived by her children, Scott (Lisa) Monroe, Patti (Aaron) Utz, and Terri Verhey, as well as 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. She is also survived by a sister, Joan White of Delphi, and a brother, Dan Arterburn of Crawfordsville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 9, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with a visitation from 12-2.  Interment will follow in the Darlington IOOF Cemetery.
