About Us

Founding

Walter Hunt started in the funeral business around 1900. He moved to Crawfordsville in 1905 with a downtown storefront location. After many years at that location he purchased 107 North Grant Avenue in 1924. We have been located here since that time.

Upon returning he came back to work at the funeral home. He was very active in the community serving on the school board, helping start the professional ambulance service, and as a police commissioner. He was married to Cora Nichols, they had three children Bill, Roberta, and Thomas.

Thomas N. Hunt entered the business in 1967 after serving in the US Navy. He has been active in the community serving on many boards including over 20 years of service on the Crawfordsville Parks Department Board.

Tom's sons David and Rob have come to work in the business. Both continue to take pride in the family's history of service to the community.
We continually look for new ways to serve the families who choose to use our services.
We have gone from horse drawn hearses to modern funeral coaches, yet our main focus is the families.
